Dr. Gutermuth is originally from Norfolk, Virginia. He completed medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School, and was a prehospital EMS provider for 8 years before beginning Pediatric residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After completing his Pediatric residency, he remained in Birmingham to complete a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at UAB. He has elected to continue his post-graduate education, and is now an EMS Fellow at UAB. He is passionate about extending and elevating the prehospital care of children beyond the hospital walls.
